Rockingham County DB 12:80 1835
This Indenture made this 21st day of August in the year 1835
between Jacob Billhimer and Margaret his wife of the County of
Rockingham and State of Virginia of the one part and Samuel Coots
of the county and state afsd. of the other part. Witnesseth that the said
Jacob Billheimer and Margaret his wife for and in consideration of
the sum of ninety dollars to them in hand paid by the Saml Coots
the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and
sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell to the said Saml Coots
his heirs and assigns forever, a certain house and lot in Turley Town
and the same which was conveyed by John Rice and wife to the said Billheimer
by deed of bargain and sale on the 29th day of December 1832
and which will more fully appear by a reference to the records in the
Clerks Office of the County Court of Rockingham, where the said deed is
recorded which lot is bounded as follows beginning at a stake by the side
of the big road thence running along with Earbaughs (now Cootes line) N
0/30E8 poles and ten links to a stake by the side of a sugar tree thence
South 54 3/4E8 poles and 7 links to a stake by the main road thence South
33W8 poles and five links to the Beginning containing one rood and 24
perches together with all and singular, the appurtenances thereunto
belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold, the said house
and lot with all its appurtances unto the said Coots his heirs and
assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Cootes
his heirs and assigns forever and the said Jacob Billheimer and
Margaret his wife for themselves their heirs executors and administrators
do covenant with the said Saml Coots his heirs executors or
administrators the said house and lot of land with its appurtenances unto
the said Saml Coots his heirs and assigns against the claim or
claims of them the sd Billheimer and wife their heirs executors or
admin.es or any person or persons whatsoever shall warrant and forever
defend by these presents. In witness where of the said Jacob Billhimer
and Margaret his wife have here with set their hands and seals, the day
and year first above written.

Samuel Cootes. Jacob married Margaret Cootes Dec. 28, 1830
and John married Edith Cootes May 14, 1832, with consent notes from
their father Jacob Cootes Sr.]
