These Cootes deeds (1829-1881) are for informational purposes only. All should be verified with the original copies, many are incomplete. 
A few of John G. Cootes’ deeds have been included because of Cootes Store names.

1829- Abraham Head hath granted bargained and sold unto the said Samuel Coots his the said Head’s Merchant Mill together with the land and appurtenances ......
  
1829- Abraham Head for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Samuel Cootes the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Samuel Cootes and his heirs two certain tracts or parcels of land lying and being in the county of Rockingham
  
1830- John Morris and Anna his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen hundred dollars lawful money of Virginia to them in hand paid by Samuel Cootes for the said Graham & Shacklett the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents to grant bargain and sell to the said Benjamin F. Graham and Samuel Shacklett and their heirs and assigns forever a certain lot or parcel of land in the Town of Harrisonburg ................
1830- John Morris & Anne his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & fifty dollars lawful…..of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Samuel Cootes the receipt whereof is hereby axxxxxxxed have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell to the…..uel Cootes and his heirs and assign forever a certain lot or parcel of land near and axxx Town of Harrisonburg ................
1831- Joseph Funk and Sarah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of......hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Samuel Cootes the receipt.....of is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Samuel Cootes the following tracts or parcels. Land lying and being in the County of Rockingham and near Turley Town ..............
1831- John Morris and Ann his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one Hundred Dollars lawful money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Samuel Cootes the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant bargain and sell to the said Samuel Cootes and his heirs and assigns from all the certain lott tract or parcel of land adjoining or near Turley Town 
1831- Between Samuel Cootes and……….of Virginia of the one part, and Abraham Smith of the County and State………
1832- Ewing for and in consideration of the sum 1832- Ewing for and in consideration of the sum of..........whereof is hereby acknowledged.........Jacob Cootes Jr. a certain tract..........
1832- between Samuel Cootes of the County of....ingham & State of Virginia of the one part and John Rice.........
1832- Richard Winfield and Elisabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and thirty three & half dollars lawful money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Saml Cootes the receipt whereof...
1832_ Samuel Cootes as administrator as aforesaid......12th day of May in the year 1832 expose to........auction to the highest bidder for ready mxxxx.......Town eight acres (being the hereinafter descxxxx.....eight acres of the said tract or parcel of land......ces to the said eight acres belonging or appertaining......Nathaniel Britton being the highest bidder...
1832- Samuel Cootes of the County of Rockingham & State of Virginia of the one part and James Ewing of the County of Marion and State of Missouri of the other part Witnesseth that whereas John Funk.....
 
1832- James Ewing for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and twenty five dollars lawful money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Saml Cootes the receipt whereof...
1832- Samuel Sterling through Jas Ewing being the highest bidder at Sixty-Six Dollars.......cents became the purchaser the same being struck of to him. Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said Samuel Cootes as administrator as aforesaid
1832- Richard Winfield being the highest bidder at six dollars per acre became the purchaser the same being struck off to him. Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said Samuel Cootes as Administrator as aforesaid
 
1833- Samuel Cootes & Emily his wife who reside in the Turley Town being anxious and desirous to promote the Interests of the Redeemers Kingdom the Spread of the Gospel & the Salvation of Souls by the preaching and teaching thereof as taught by the Presbyterian Church...
1834- Thomas McCullough being the highest bidder at the sum of eight hundred dollars became the purchaser of the said land & appurtenances.....
1835- Jacob Billheimer and Margaret his wife for and in consideration of the sum of ninety dollars to them in hand paid by the Saml Coots the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell to the said Saml Coots his heirs and assigns forever, a certain house and lot in Turley Town.....
1835- John Rice and Edith his wife and the said William Smith have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Samuel Cootes his heirs and assigns forever, a certain lot of ground lying and being in Turley Town........
 
1835- Samuel Cootes and Emily his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to them in hand paid by the said Jeremiah Fifer the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell to the said Jeremiah Fifer a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Rockingham
