This Indenture made this 18th
day of November 1844 between Saml Cootes of the County of
Rockingham & state of Virginia of the one part and Emanuel Rodecap
of the County and state afsd. of the other part witnesseth that the said
Saml Cootes for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to
him in hand paid by the sd Emanuel Rodecap the rect whereof is
hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents
doth grant bargain and sell to the said Emanuel Rodecap his heirs
and assigns forever the portion and interest of Joseph Turner and wife in
the lands of the Estate of Adam Bible decd and the same which was conveyed
to the said Cootes by Joseph Turner by Deed of Bargain and sale
bearing date on the 1st day of October 1840 and of record in
the county court of Rockingham County where reference may be had to the
same Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging
or in wise appertaining to have and to hold the said interest or portion
of land with its appurtenances unto the said Emanuel Rodecap and
his heirs and assigns forever to the only use and behoof of him the said Rodecap
his heirs and assigns forever and the sd Saml Cootes his heirs
exec. and adms doth covenant with sd Emanuel Rodecap his heirs
executors admins and assigns the interest or portion of land with its
appurtenances unto the said Rodecap his heirs and assigns forever
against the claim or claims of him the said Saml Cootes his heirs
or all and every person or persons claiming through or under him or his
his heirs & shall and will warrant and forever defend by these
presents & witness whereof the said Saml Cootes hath hereunto
set his hand and seal the day & year first above written.

In the Clerks office of the County Court of
Rockingham November 1844 This Deed from Samuel Cootes to Emanuel Roadcap
was this day presented to me Deputy Clerk of said County and was
acknowledged and admitted to Record. Attest D.H. Gambill D.C.R.C.
