Winfield Family Matters 1855

This agreement entered into on this the 14th
day of December 1855 between John Q Winfield of the one part &
Samuel Cootes and Paulina his wife of the other part. Witnesseth
that the said Winfield promises and agrees in the event the said Cootes
dies Mrs. Cootes survi……. And in the event Mrs. Cootes
should lay claim to a ……..personal property belonging to said Cootes
at his death which by virtue of his relationship as wife of the said Cootes
she may be entitled that he will release the said……Cootes and
his heirs from the payment of a certain allegation to the amount of
thirteen hundred dollars…..entered into by the said Cootes and
his sons Franklin…….and John said $1300 payable one year after the
death of Mrs. Cootes or Mr. Cootes the said obligation
entered……in month December 1855, if the interest of the said Mrs. Cootes
in the said Cootes estate should equal the…….of thirteen
hundred dollars & if less than 1300 then to release a portion of the
1300 equal to her the said Mrs. Cootes share of pers……..ty, if
more than 1300 to release or be con………for no more than that a…….mount
and the said Cootes…..wife do hereby agree to release the said Winfield
fro…….the payment of certain interest upon the value……..property
on the rents thereupon the right title and the…….est in which have
been this day conveyed by the Sa…….Cootes and wife to said Winfield
and which interests……certain conditions the said Winfield by
obligation ha……..say bound himself to pay in the event the said Cootes
should out live the said Cootes and should…….claim to any
portion of his the said Coutes perso………..by virtue of her marriage
relations with him……..Cootes the obligation concerning the
