Rockingham DB 13:30 1876

This Deed made this 20th day of May 1873 between John G. Cootes & Louisa C. Cootes his wife of the County of Rockingham & State of Virginia of the one part & Henry Whisler of the County & State aforesd. of the other part. Witnesseth that in consideration of the Sum of One Dollar in hand paid the Recd whereof is hereby acknowledged the Said John G. Cootes & Louisa C. his wife doth grant, bargain & sell to the Said Henry Whisler a House & Lot containing one acre it being a part of the Land on which the Said John G. Cootes now resides & lies South of the Stone in the road leading to Turly Town & is bounded as follows. Beginning at a dry locust tree on the side of the road, thence S70E10 poles to a stone pile, thence S15W20 poles to a stone on line between Cootes & Wunder, thence N69w8 poles with Wunder’s line to a stake on the road, thence N2E20 poles to the beginning. The Said John G. Cootes & Louisa C. his wife hereby releases all their right, title & interest in the above land to the said Henry Whisler & hereby warrant generally the title to said land free from any & all encumbrances. In witness whereof the parties have hereunto set their hands & seals the day & year above written.
